How to Treat and Prevent Melasma
Have you ever woken up and noticed those embarrassing dark patches on your skin, be it in the face, cheeks, or forehead? And it won’t improve a bit from all your efforts in scrubbing? You might be experiencing a common skin problem called Melasma.
What is melasma?
Melasma is usually characterized by brown to gray-brown patches on the skin. It is commonly located under the eyes, cheeks, bridge of nose, forehead, chin, and above the upper lip. It may also appear in other areas exposed to the sun such as the neck and forearms. While the exact cause can be a variety of things, experts were able to identify certain factors that are associated with the occurrence of melasma. These factors include sun exposure, genetic predisposition, and hormonal changes (e.g. pregnancy, birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy). Most importantly, hyper pigmentation in melasma is caused by the stimulation of pigment forming cells, especially by hormones and sun exposure.
This condition is more common among women, especially among pregnant ones...which gives it another nickname: "the mask of pregnancy." Moreover, people who have a family history of melasma are most likely to have it as well. Regarding race, people who have darker skin are more predisposed, such as those of Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern descent.
How to treat melasma
If you are looking for a remedy for darkening of the skin, then you’ve finally found the right one! One of the most promising products is Porcelana® Dark Circle Treatment, a treatment that is formulated with Haloxyl™ which is widely used for various skin issues.
Haloxyl is a commonly used anti-aging substance in addition to several other skin care treatments. Dark circles under the eye may be caused by an accumulation of pigments in the skin. Thus, this topical treatment is formulated to target and absorb these pigments. Its results decrease the darkening under your eyes. It has also been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect, and can help improve the firmness in the skin around and under the eye (which can decrease puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well). This action will make the skin around your eyes look younger and even brighter.
How to use the Dark Circle Treatment
In using this product, apply a pea sized drop of the dark circle treatment under the eye and gently smooth in until thoroughly absorbed. Continued use could cause instant brightening under the eyes, thus, use at least twice daily or more as needed. Keep out of reach of children. This is for external use only and do avoid contact with the eyes. Stop use immediately if irritation occurs. Before you buy this product, you should also make sure to discuss this product with your dermatologist for an expert’s advice specific to your situation.
